Want to explore the stunning scenery of the Sierra de Aracena on foot without any hassle? Then our unique 8 days/7 nights circular self-guided walking tour in the Sierra de Aracena is ideal for you.
A typical hike through the Sierra between groves of evergreen holm and cork oaks
Our route covers all the highlights of the Sierra de Aracena natural park – one of the most beautiful areas in Andalusia known for its rolling hills of cork and stone oaks, great variety of wildlife (especially birds, deer and other forest dwellers) and tranquil walking paths.
On your tour, you will be passing by, dining and staying in some of the most amazing villages of the area including:
- Linares de la Sierra
- Almonaster La Real
Aracena bell tower
There are six stages on this route with an average stage including an 8 to 10km trek. The terrain is varied with dirt tracks and cobbled paths making up the majority of the walks. You will walk from one village to the next over the old donkey trails that were used for centuries to connect towns before modern asphalt roads were available. The route is easy to hike and great for beginning to moderate hikers.
The Sierra de Aracena is known for its natural beauty, picturesque whitewashed villages and exquisite gastronomy. With our half board stays you will get the opportunity to try some of the local delicacies (think local cured ham from acorn fed free roaming pigs, wild mushrooms, gambas from Huelva and much more). Your luggage will be transferred from hotel to hotel by us so you don’t have to worry about carrying a heavy backpack.
The trek is available from September to June. July and August are just too hot to walk so we do not offer these months.
You can start any day of the week to suit your availability. There are also options to extend or shorten the walking holiday if you prefer.
